Perspectivas Journal is committed to promoting, protecting, and safeguarding scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and best practices in the research, evaluation, and publication of academic and scientific contributions.
All editorial processes are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized ethical principles and the recommendations issued by specialized organizations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Perspectivas Journal requires all parties involved in the publication process to be familiar with and adhere to the agreements governing ethical conduct and best practices, thereby ensuring the proper development of the scientific publishing process.
The editorial decisions of Perspectivas Journal are guided by the following core principles of good editorial practice:
- Scientific merit of the manuscript;
- Originality and relevance of the contribution;
- Methodological rigor;
- Compliance with ethical standards;
- Relevance to the journal's scope.
The editors of Perspectivas Journal shall maintain complete impartiality throughout the editorial process and ensure the confidentiality of all technical, scientific, and personal information submitted by authors as part of their contributions, as well as any information relating to peer reviewers.
The Editorial Team shall base its editorial decisions on the principles of scientific integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and transparency. To this end, manuscripts shall be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, except in cases where the journal's editorial policy establishes a different review procedure.
The Editorial Team shall be responsible for promptly issuing the corresponding acceptance or rejection letters to authors and for maintaining clear communication regarding the timelines and stages of the review, editing, production, and publication processes. Likewise, the Editorial Team shall issue review certificates or acknowledgments to peer reviewers, regardless of the outcome of their evaluation.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their written contributions accurately reflect the results obtained from their research. While their work may build upon previously published studies to establish the state of the art, authors are expected to provide an original, novel, or otherwise clearly identifiable scholarly contribution.
If authors identify any conflict of interest involving either their research team or the Perspectivas Journal Editorial Team, they must disclose it promptly so that the journal can take the appropriate editorial measures.
As part of the editorial process, authors are expected to respond to requests for information and to address the comments and revision suggestions made by peer reviewers or editors until the final version of the manuscript has been approved.
In addition, authors are responsible for submitting the manuscript in PDF format, both with and without author identification, together with the corresponding editable file. Authors must also provide a signed Statement of Ethical Compliance and a First Publication Rights Transfer Agreement granting Perspectivas Journal the right of first publication under the terms of the CC-BY-4.0 license.
Peer reviewers are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the manuscripts assigned to them for review, as well as the identity of their authors, and to remain objective throughout the review and evaluation process. Accordingly, reviewers must refrain from using any information contained in the manuscripts for their own benefit or that of third parties prior to publication.
Reviewers are also expected to promptly disclose to the Editorial Team any conflict of interest that may arise in relation to the subject matter of the manuscript or, where applicable, with its authors should their identities become known.
In addition, peer reviewers are responsible for adhering to the established review deadlines and for responding promptly to communications from the Editorial Team concerning the peer review process.
Perspectivas Journal assumes that all individuals listed as authors of a manuscript have made a substantial and active contribution to both the research and the preparation of the manuscript. Accordingly, all authors share responsibility for any failure to comply with ethical standards in research and scholarly publishing.
To ensure compliance with this responsibility, authors are required to submit a signed Statement of Ethical Compliance together with their manuscript. Any addition or removal of authors after the editorial process has commenced must be duly justified and supported by the written consent of all co-authors.
Perspectivas Journal promotes transparency and impartiality throughout all stages of the editorial process. Accordingly, authors, peer reviewers, editors, and all other members of the Editorial Team are required to promptly disclose any conflict of interest that could influence, or be perceived as influencing, the objectivity of the evaluation, editorial handling, or publication of a manuscript.
A conflict of interest shall be understood as any personal, professional, academic, institutional, financial, commercial, or other relationship that may affect, or appear to affect, the independence and objectivity of any party involved in the editorial process. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to:
- Employment or contractual relationships between authors, reviewers, or editors;
- Recent collaboration on research projects;
- Academic supervisory, mentoring, or scientific collaborative relationships;
- Financial, commercial, or economic interests related to the research outcomes;
- Involvement in intellectual property proceedings, patents, or technological developments associated with the manuscript.
The existence of a conflict of interest does not, by itself, constitute grounds for rejecting a manuscript. However, the deliberate failure to disclose such a conflict shall be considered a breach of the journal's ethical policies and may result in the appropriate editorial actions.
Perspectivas Journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, inappropriate image manipulation, and any other form of scientific misconduct. Such practices constitute serious violations of research ethics and professional integrity and may also result in legal, civil, and, where applicable, criminal sanctions.
The Editorial Team reserves the right to verify the originality of the text and other content of all submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software authorized by the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). All manuscripts undergo a similarity analysis using Compilatio before entering the peer review process.
If a manuscript presents minor similarity issues, it will be returned to the authors so that they may address the identified concerns and submit a revised version. However, in cases involving major similarity issues or evidence of serious ethical misconduct, the manuscript will be rejected immediately, even before the peer review process has commenced.
The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools must be disclosed by the authors, either within the manuscript for the information of reviewers and readers or in an accompanying statement submitted for the attention of the editors. However, under no circumstances may any AI tool be listed as an author of the manuscript.
Perspectivas Journal does not oppose the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools by authors, provided that:
- AI has been used solely to support tasks such as language editing, stylistic improvement, or translation;
- AI has contributed to the development of methodologies or experimental designs, provided that its use does not replace the authors' scientific reasoning, critical analysis, or intellectual responsibility;
- The authors retain full responsibility for all content generated with the assistance of AI tools;
- AI tools are not credited as authors and do not assume responsibility for the research;
- The use of AI tools is clearly disclosed, and their contribution or influence on the research is explicitly described by the authors.
If significant inaccuracies, errors, misleading information, or distorted content are identified in material published by the journal, the Editorial Team will request that the authors make the necessary corrections without delay. Such actions will be clearly documented either in the original publication or through a subsequent publication in the form of a correction, erratum, retraction, or expression of concern, as appropriate.
If, for any reason, the requested corrections are not made, Perspectivas Journal reserves the right to temporarily withdraw or permanently retract the content under review.
Provided that no legal, ethical, confidentiality, or intellectual property restrictions apply, authors are expected to make the data underlying their research available so that their work can be reproduced or independently verified by peer reviewers and/or readers of the journal.
The information that may be shared includes, but is not limited to, datasets, databases, source code, multimedia materials, and other research outputs.
Research data may be made available through any cloud-based repository or data-sharing platform managed by the authors. Alternatively, authors may submit the data to the Editorial Team for publication on the Perspectivas Journal website.
Perspectivas Journal is hosted on a virtual server managed and maintained by the technical staff of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). In addition, the journal operates on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, which is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) digital preservation systems.
The LOCKSS program, developed by the Stanford University Libraries, provides open-source technologies and services to ensure the secure, reliable, resilient, and long-term digital preservation of scholarly and scientific journal content. Readers may verify the activation of this service for Perspectivas Journal through the journal's LOCKSS Editorial Manifest. Likewise, the CLOCKSS system provides controlled, long-term preservation of scholarly content based on the LOCKSS infrastructure. Readers may verify the activation of this service for Perspectivas Journal through the journal's CLOCKSS Editorial Manifest.
In addition, Perspectivas Journal uses DOI, Crossref, and the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to ensure the persistent identification, citation, and long-term digital preservation of its published content.
The long-term digital preservation of published content is a permanent policy of Perspectivas Journal, ensuring the continuous accessibility and long-term availability of all published works.
The Editorial Team of Perspectivas Journal requires authors to avoid duplicate or multiple publications, simultaneous submissions, and redundant or fragmented publications.
Any of these practices shall be considered serious breaches of publication ethics when the same manuscript has been submitted simultaneously to two or more journals for peer review. Likewise, publications appearing in different languages will also be regarded as duplicate publications when they present substantially the same content and scholarly contribution.
When potential breaches of publication ethics are identified, they shall be addressed according to the following procedure:
- Receipt of the complaint or identification of the alleged ethical breach.
- Preliminary assessment by the Editorial Team.
- Request for clarification from the parties involved.
- Review and evaluation by the Editorial Team.
- Issuance of a reasoned editorial decision.
- Implementation of the appropriate editorial actions.
- Formal communication of the decision to the relevant parties.
- Publication of corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, where appropriate.
Any publication ethics issues not expressly covered by this policy shall be reviewed and resolved by the Editorial Team of Perspectivas Journal during an ordinary or extraordinary editorial meeting, as appropriate to the circumstances of each case. Where the nature or severity of the ethical misconduct so requires, the matter may be referred to other competent authorities or institutions for further consideration.
